Visiometa 1.1 and the New Licensing Model

by Rene Romeike

The latest update to our software will be published on July 1, 2026. With this upcoming release, Visiometa's licensing model will become even more customer-friendly.

Why pay for features you don't even use? That's the question we asked ourselves as we evolved our licensing model. Not every customer uses our software in the same way. While some teams need the full range of features, others focus on the aspects that are most important to them. At the same time, requirements change over time. A modern licensing model should take this diversity into account and provide only the features that are actually needed.

For many years, our product lineup consisted of three editions (Lite, Pro, Max) that offered different feature sets. This model proved effective, but it reached its limits when it came to precisely meeting individual requirements. Moreover, as we continue to develop the software, new features are constantly being added, which increases both the value and the price of the software over time. However, we at Visiometa believe it is important that our software remains affordable for smaller businesses around the world.

For these reasons, we have fundamentally overhauled our licensing system. Instead of fixed editions with predefined functionality, all key features can now be licensed separately and flexibly. This makes it much easier to tailor the software to individual needs, and our customers don't have to pay for features they don't use.

The License Session dialog in the client software shows all features that are included in the current user's license.

Of course, we will continue to offer both perpetual licenses with a one-time payment and particularly affordable time-based licenses with monthly payments. By combining the subscription model with the new licensing of individual features, the entry barrier to Visiometa is now lower than ever before. This means there is finally no excuse left not to invest in your digital process planning.

There have also been developments on the technical front. In the past, our online licensing relied on a proprietary protocol running on TCP port 2310. This posed a challenge for some users with large or externally managed IT environments. As a result, some opted for offline licensing, thereby forgoing the benefits of the floating license model. That's why we've now switched to a web-based protocol that uses TCP port 443 instead. Using this standard port typically does not require any additional firewall rules.

In addition, our customers can now manage their licenses and user accounts themselves via our new, web-based license management platform Access Hub. This enables organizations with many users to quickly and flexibly create new accounts, assign passwords, and configure their license pool. This is a major improvement, especially for universities or companies with multiple locations.

Customers can now manage their licenses and user accounts through our new web interface.

If you're not a Visiometa user yet, the best news for you comes at the end: Through Access Hub, you can now register on your own for a 30-day trial license. It won't cost you anything except 5 minutes of your time. But as a Visiometa user, this investment will pay for itself on the very first day! You don't need to contact us to test our software - just register, download, and install. If you do have any questions though, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

We wish all our users the greatest success with the new software version!
