The 65. Austrian Foundry Conference in Schladming
by Ralf Gerke-Cantow
Last week we attended the Austrian Foundry Conference (Österreichische Gießereitagung), which was held in Schladming under the motto "Accepting challenges and being prepared for the future".
This theme was also reflected in the presentation titles: digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data sharing, circular economy, resource conservation, de-carbonization and CO2 minimization are just a few of the keywords that captured the attention of the approximately 250 participants at the conference. To the delight of the audience, there were also contributions on regular technical topics in addition to the usual exchange of experience on improvements in raw materials, casting processes and their planning and control.
Visiometa participated in the exhibition and contributed its own small booth, where we had inspiring conversations and made new contacts. Many thanks at this point to our interested visitors.
Dieter Nemetz, President of Proguss Austria, opened and moderated the second day, noting that foundry workers often don't get it right the first time and are therefore optimists because they don't give up and meet challenges head on. We agree with that! We are already looking forward to the 66th Austrian Foundry Conference in Salzburg on April 25-26, 2024.
